17 South - High Octane Country Outfit

Prep Sportswear

The high octane country outfit 17 South was formed in Thomson, Georgia in the summer of 2002 by Jake Jacobs (Bass Guitar) and Tony Cannon (Lead Vocals). Formerly called Southbound, Jake and Tony were soon joined by Ed Gaskil (Rhythm Guitar/Vocals), Chris Powers (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Bart Fitczre (Keyboard/Acoustic Guitar) and Robbie Ansley (Lead/Harmony Vocals). In 2007 they changed their name to 17 South and shortly after Johnny Brantley (Drums) joined the 17 South family.

With their southern rock/bluesy flavor, 17 South puts on a rocking live performance whether they are playing clubs, festivals, fairs or opening for a national act. They have opened for 17 national acts and shared the stage with artists such as Tracy Lawrence, Josh Gracin, Joe Diffey, Little Texas, Danielle Peck, Shenandoah and Confederate Railroad just to name a few.

Driven by their love of music, these guys have a fire that fans can’t get enough of. They play from the heart and will keep you on the dance floor all night with their high energy live performance. They were voted “METRO’S BEST 2006” by the fans in C.S.R.A. (Augusta, GA). 17 South can adapt to any crowd. Whether they are playing an intimate acoustic set or blowing the roof off a coliseum - they will leave you wanting more.
17 South has just released their second CD “Rusted and Rugged”. Proudly, all original songs have been written and arranged by 17 South. You can hear their original ballad “Missing You” currently being played on the radio. They have written over a hundred songs together, most of which have come from life experiences or stories that just needed to be told. Chris Powers (Lead Guitar) stated “It’s hard to put yourself out there like that but when you let yourself be vulnerable it means alot more”. They love the fact that they can connect with their fans through their music and the fans can relate to 17 South, the band with small town roots.
