I love finding new music, even if it's been out for years and it's only new to me. It's like finding a golden tree with lot's of golden limbs and leaves shining in a darkened, overgrown forest. It sets off a hum of excitement inside me, and I love that!
You've probably heard The Weepies before, but didn't know it. They've been all over TV adds, Television shows and movie soundtracks.
I was introduced to The Weepies when a friend gave me a mixed CD (a great way to find new music). I put their song "World Spins Madly On" on repeat for a couple days and let the song consume me.
Both albums Say I Am You, and Happiness can do that.
With the strongly unique voices of Deb Talan and Steve Tannen, The Weepies create lyrics, melodies, and harmonies that take you in. They take you into their world and make you feel comfortably at home. Word is, a new album is coming out. I hope it's soon! Check them out at www.TheWeepies.com.

DBT’s latest epic work, Brighter Than Creation’s Dark, is sure to become an instant classic among die-hard Trucker fans. Drive By Truckers continues to give a voice to small town middle America as they have done with their previous albums.
Despite the departure of guitarist and songwriter Jason Isbell, the Truckers haven’t missed a step. In fact, they have presented a few surprises that could give them new legs for follow up albums.
The first surprise is Shonna Tucker’s singing and song-writing debut that fits well with her counterparts and the “Trucker sound”, such as "Home Field Advantage". I can’t help asking myself why these talents haven’t been utilized before.
The second is the contribution and the diversity of songs written and sung by the “Stroker Ace”, Mike Cooley. The quality is not surprising. Cooley is at his best with a string of songs that are without a doubt “classic Cooley” such as "3 Dimes Down", "Self Destructive Zones", and "Ghost to Most". Cooley also adds a couple of songs with a country twist that are reminiscent of DBT’s second album Pizza Deliverance. Songs like "Bob" and "Lisa’s Birthday" make most contemporary country singers sound like city-slicker, cowboy wanna-be’s.

Front man, Patterson Hood continues to translate the common American man’s worries, despairs, happiness, and duty in such songs as "The Righteous Path" and "Daddy Needs A Drink". Hood’s lyrics seem to mature with every album in sincerity and seriousness; this is no more prevalent than the songs "The Man I Shot", "The Home Front", and "You And Your Crystal Meth" which touch on current topics such as the occupation in Iraq and the ravages of crystal meth on small town USA.
Drive By Truckers fans will find a gem in Brighter Than Creation’s Dark.

Ben Folds has been around the block. It would be easy to excuse himself, and ramble into the retirement most of his peers have been forced into. No one would blame the singer/songwriter for retiring his baby grand (surely he's gone through more than one) and snowbirding between Florida and his Winston-Salem, North Carolina home.
What Folds has done however, is turn his early success with Ben Folds Five (there were only three members) into an impressive career that has spanned 2 decades

Benjamin Scott Folds was born in 1966 to a Carpenter in North Carolina, and spent much of his early childhood moving around. A piano his father had traded for work became his constant in a world of ever changing locations, schools and friends.
The artist of many hats was in several bands (including one called "Pots and Pans") as a drummer, and eventually landed a publishing deal which lead him to Nashville Tennessee.
After a stint at Miami School of Music, Folds moved home and went to work on honing his piano skills. "I spent maybe six months just running scales with a metronome like a freak," Folds said. "I suppose that did something." He formed Ben Folds Five; he was on his way
Attending a Ben Folds Five show in the mid nineties consisted of watching a shy-geeky guy beat the wiring out of a
piano while belting out crowd pleasers like "Underground", "Uncle Walter", "One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces" and "Song For The Dumped (and they performed "Brick" too). By the end of the show, one was usually exhausted, and ready to take Ben's piano home and nurse it back to health.
An amicable parting of Five in 2000 opened the door for Folds solo career
In 2001, Ben Folds released "Rockin The Suburbs" and played most instruments, including a guitar and followed up in 2005 with "Songs For Silverman". He also contributed to the soundtrack for "Over The Hedge" which has led to a string of movie soundtrack appearances.
Staying busy the North Carolinian has written, sung, produced, composed, performed, on many projects, and has begun writing for his next CD.

The infusion of country, reggae, and rock sound uniquely southern. This Charleston, South Carolina trio will have you tapping your toes without even realizing it. With influences like Tom Waits, Radiohead and Neutral Milk Hotel, Dangermuffin uses a broad brush to tell their story, but it melts seamlessly into a solitary sound that is their own.
Lead Singer/Guitarist Dan Lotti, originally from South Carolina moved back after a stint in New York City. "One day on the way to
work the weatherman said ... today ... temperatures will climb to 2 degrees.' I said ... that's it,'" said Lotti. "I met Mikey; we started playing out as a duo. Jim moved back down to the Low-country soon thereafter; thus began the debauchery and pillaging that currently goes down with the muffins."
Beermuda, the bands debut CD was recorded independently in Drummer Jim Donnelly's home studio, far from the peering eyes of meddling suits in a comfortable environment: "Having the studio set-up available at Jim's place was crucial," says Lotti. "I may have had the original ideas for some of these songs, but being able to get together without distraction in a studio room with everyone allowed us to put things together collectively."
Word is the CD pales in comparison to a live show and we at The Georgia Jukebox can't wait until we're able to get to South Carolina to see them in person. Until then we'll have to settle for Beermuda. Sounds like a place we'd like to go.

Back where it all began....... The Jeremy Graham Band, formerly SHILOH, was first organized in Augusta, Georgia in 1992 and consisted of five members, including: steel guitar, bass guitar, lead guitar, drummer and a "utility" player (playing such instruments as fiddle, harmonica, acoustic guitar and electric guitar).
Through the years, the consistency of the organization has remained the same, with the exception of a few members. As with most businesses, change allows the ability to refine all aspects of the quality of entertainment that JGB wishes to bring to its customers. With that in mind and despite the band's changes over the years, the instrumentation has always remained the same.
Over the past 15 years, the organization has had the privilege of working with some of the most talented entertainers in the country music industry. These acts include: John Michael Montgomery, Kevin Sharp, Lee Roy Parnell, Neil McCoy, Jodee Messina, Aaron Tippen, Brad Paisley, Radney Foster, Confederate Railroad, Exile, Trace Adkins, Merle Haggard, and many more!
Not only does the band have an impressive background as a whole, each member has an impressive record of experience in his own right. Most of the JGB members have at least 20 years of experience in both nightclub and arena type venues. In the nightclubs, they enjoy the close interaction between the band and the patrons. However, they
also enjoy the higher profile venues, which allow them to interact and learn from some of the best in the business. JGB takes pride in the camaraderie between all of its members, both on stage and off. The JGB strives to project that same atmosphere to its new found friends and fans of all ages!
JGB is completely self-contained and self sufficient in the management, staging, and production of its shows and is proud of the success it has brought them over the past 14 years.
The band travels in an MCI tour bus, which contains state-of-the-art professional sound gear and lighting, as well as full time sound and lighting engineers. This only enhances the quality of the entertainment and music, which JGB enjoys delivering to its customers. With that in mind, adequate parking is a must.

Americana is about blending several styles of music into something uniquely American. The Gougers, a Austin Texas based quartet has the genre figured out.
One listen from "A Long Day For The Weathervane" will convince you. From the interestingly up-beat backdrop on "Everybody Knows" to the heart-felt, and definitely country "Sleeping Pills", this band transitions seamlessly, back and forth, and keeps you waiting for the way they'll intertwine their sound into the next track.
Formerly The Sidehill Gougers, the band dropped the Sidehill, and they added a drummer, went electric. Now, the astute lyrics of Jamie Wilson and Shane Walker have a real home, and the combination of the two's vocals are powerful. The new sound matches perfectly.
The band will be in Colorado for most of January, then will stop in New Mexico on their way back home to Texas for most of February. Click Here to get Venues and dates.
