Georgia native Corey Crowder's CD Starting All Over is the singer/songwriter's 5th release, and by all accounts, his best to date. Crowder moved to Greenville South Carolina in 2005, and shortly after, started work on a new album.
CCM Music said of Crowder:
"With his songs already garnering airtime on shows like MTV’s “The Real World,” it is only a matter of time before Corey Crowder is heard by the masses."
The Album Project said
"Learning To Let Go is an album that should make your ears perk up and take notice. The songs stick to an acoustic folk style that have an underlying passion to them, which give them both style and substance. If nothing else this record should make you excited to hear what Corey’s next album."
Soothing singer/songwriter Corey Crowder has developed his unique blend of folk, jazz, and country largely due to his southern upbringing. A Georgia native, Corey grew up listening to artists like David Allen Coe, The Allman Brothers, and
Tom Petty. While he always found southern music both intriguing and comforting, he really didn’t begin to explore his southern roots until the last few years. Corey began to blend his southern upbringing with his love for old jazz classics to form his unique smooth sound.
In August 2005 Corey released an 11-track acoustic full-length album that included some re-recorded songs from “Certain Starlights…” as well as some brand new material. The album was called “Learning to Let Go – Home Recordings” and was the most successful release to date thanks to MTV airing various songs from the album on their reality show The Real World.
In September 2005 Corey married his high school sweetheart Laney Harris. They decided to relocate to Greenville, SC where Laney had attended Furman University. This was a big challenge for Corey because he would be building a new home base. After acquiring some new musicians to spice up the live show Corey began writing new material for an EP release in 2006. The album would be called “Starting All Over,” which seemed to be a fitting title seeing as Corey’s life had taken a totally new path. Corey and the guys went into the studio with drummer John Taylor in Lawrenceville, GA, and after 3 months of work, “Starting All Over” was released.

The Georgia Jukebox recently saw Sam Thacker promoting his album Above the Underneath, at Capital City Bar in Milledgeville Georgia. The Houston Texas native has shared the stage with, Collective Soul, Sister Hazel, Tonic, Gavin DeGraw, and Marc Broussard (this show was with Corey Smith, another Jukebox favorite), and despite the unusually sparse crowd, Thacker gave the audience a professional show that demonstrated why there’s a good chance you’ll hear him on your radio soon.

From the album’s first track “Serenade”, an introspective power-pop number that will have you singing along (and it got airplay on a handful of stations), to the Jazz-infused “Oh Well” and the encouraging “Guide You Well”, Above The Underneath is a triumph for Thacker, and a good indication of what’s to come
“I’m having a good time with “Song of the Week”, said Thacker. “Basically I’ve committed to writing and recording at least one new song a week. Every Monday I’m posting one of the new tunes up on my MySpace page and folks can download it for free. If they choose, there is a “donate” button where they can make a contribution to the cause but this is neither necessary nor expected. Each song stays up for one week and is replaced by a new one the next Monday. Once a song has been posted it will not be posted again. The goal with this is for fans to reach out to one another if they miss a song they want. I really want to encourage sharing, burning, etc among folks who want to listen to and spread my music. “
We think this is a great idea, and hope you donate when you download. These songs could be a collector’s item one day, and they’re just good songs.
The so-far untitled CD should be finished this month. Sam’s excited: “The songs are the best I’ve ever written and I feel like we’re capturing some really special performances in the studio as well”
We can’t wait
Lisa Christian, describes recording Lisa Christian A Go-Go, The Alabama singer's latest release as "A muggy South Alabama evening in April... a funky little recording studio tucked safely away between a children's secondhand clothing store and a biker bar."
"Lisa Christian, blessed with excellent phrasing and control, slips effortlessly from breathy, seductive blues to gritty R&B." Blues on Tap (Nashville)
"Lisa Christian is a powerhouse artist & one of the most original talents I've heard in my travels across the U.S. ~ tremendous vocal delivery with mood-inducing guitar ... she's played/recorded with and/or opened for Bonnie Raitt, Wet Willie, Starship, The Georgia Satellites, & John Lee Hooker but her style is unique & original!" Blues Indoctrination (UK)
"A singer of goose pimply beauty and songwriter of rare depth." City Life (Chicago)
"Lisa Christian is a long neglected gem who's keeping R&B alive and positively kicking for anyone willing to listen." In The Know (Atlanta)
"Like a hurricane churning up the Gulf, Lisa Christian emerged on to the Austin blues scene like a storm surge! Her debut appearance in Austin has created quite a buzz within the entertainment industry, receiving plenty of positive feedback from blues aficionados." 6th Street Talent (Austin)
"A bright future beckons for this crystal voiced lady." N2Deep Magazine (USA)
From Her Official Website:
Lisa Christian has been earning a living playing nightclubs throughout the Southeastern United States for the last ten years. She is poised to make a VERY good living if the stars continue to fall in line for this talented singer/songwriter.
Lisa is from Philadelphia, PA, home of musical legends Chubby Checker, Teddy Pendergrass, Hall and Oates, and Todd Rundgren. Lisa picked up her first guitar at age 11 and was fronting her first garage band by the time she was 12 years old. Granted, the band members had plastic guitars and cardboard drums, but she was sharpening her chops and sure had a lot of fun.
She spent her teens sneaking into local bars to play and by her early twenties Lisa was working at clubs in downtown Philly and the Jersey shore. In these years, she developed her unique soulful sound and unusual guitar style. In 1995, Lisa moved to Atlanta, GA., where she met singer and songwriter Lisa Durand. They called themselves Christian/Durand (since the name Lisa Lisa was already in use). Their innovative songwriting and harmonious vocal blend was a hit in Atlanta, and they performed at the 1996 Summer Olympics, and Lillith Fair, in addition to a full schedule of nightclub dates.
Christian/ Durand toured the Southeast extensively, and Lisa has opened for Bonnie Raitt, Sarah McLachlan, Queen Latifah, Tony Joe White, America, and even Fabian!
Now a solo artist, Lisa is rapidly becoming the classic decade-long overnight success story. In a time where so much music is artificially produced, then marketed like breakfast cereal (free toy inside!), Lisa is a throwback to a long gone era of singers and musicians who got on stage and worked and sweated over every note, every night, without the crutch of backing tracks, pitch correction devices or half naked writhing backup singers. It’s just Lisa Christian, a craftsman who loves her job, in total control of her voice and instrument. Check her out: it’s well worth your time.
Lisa Christian is touring this summer in support of two new albums: a compilation of laid-back, sexier numbers called “Soft Rock Super Hits Vol. 1” and the terrific live album “Lisa Christian A Go-Go”, which captures the magic of a Lisa Christian nightclub show, complete with politically incorrect songs, audience participation and Lisa’s stellar musicianship.
Julie Blue , the strongly anticipated release from singer/songwriter Joe Purdy is a must have for more reasons than one. The most popular reason is that it carries the first release of the song "Wash Away" as heard on the ABC show "LOST". But there are plenty of reasons to own this river record.
The record Julie Blue is a story of an artist inspired by a moment in time. This collection of memoirs was made in upstate NY, on a river island barely big enough for the house that stands on it. It was written and recorded in less than a week's time, and its spontaneity is evident through and through. From the simple rough nature of its recording, to the sound of water hitting the docks that can be heard in the background, this record tells the tale of an escape to a beautiful place, and the amazing experiences that were found there.
Bill Sheffield, the roots-country-blues master, has released his ninth album, Got A Gig, Gotta Go, continuing his storytelling of blue collar living in America with songs like "The Legend of John Montgomery", "These Four Walls" and "A Greater God." The former Roy Buchanan guitarist, also offers the just for fun "Kalamazoo," the sing along, "After The Rapture" and the title track "Got A Gig, Gotta Go" for those in need of lighter fare.
Exceptional melding of americana, country, roots and blues into a sound that is pure american music. Bill Sheffield's website describes the journey:
"How exactly did a middle-aged white guitar player from Atlanta, Georgia, come to produce a stunningly accomplished collection of folk, roots and blues music-one that calls to mind the genius of John Hurt, Hank Williams and Muddy Waters?Flashback 40 years or so to a young, burgeoning guitarist who fell in love with a special piece of American music history. It was a song that would launch him on a lifetime journey down the tributaries and runnels of the Delta. "Blind Willie Johnson played the greatest piece of music I ever heard," he says. "That was 'Dark Was The Night (Cold Was The Ground).' It's still the best piece of American music ever recorded. It changed my life and made me understand what I was trying to do. He was the best slide player that ever lived. He was able to do something that's never been touched really."
"This is already a contender for roots album of the year" Blues Matters Magazine
"This is the closest a white boy has ever come to putting white face on the Taj Mahal experience and not seeming like a hopeless jive ass in the process." Midwest Record Recap Review
Sheffield combines folk, blues and country with a little bit of gospel and a lot of soul to produce some of the most beautiful acoustic music to be heard.

Jeremy Fisher, a Canadian artist compared to Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon, is my new favorite artist. I stumbled upon him one day while clicking around iTunes. Apparently he has had some amazing Youtube success with his homemade stop-motion animation music videos. Over 2 million views, in fact. That's a lot of good exposure, for software that only cost him 60 bucks.
The music videos are fun, but what's more fun is the musical talent that was there long before his Youtube success. Fisher took that talent on the road in 2002 with his "One Less Tour Bus" tour. He traveled the 4,500 mile stretch between Seattle and Halifax, Nova Scotia with a guitar strapped to the side of his bicycle. Playing shows and gaining fans all along the way, he also discovered the dangers of sleeping amongst hidden sprinklers.
Fisher's newest album, Goodbye Blue Monday, was released in September '07. It only took 15 days to record with Fisher doing a lot of the work himself. He not only recorded vocal and guitar tracks, but also pitched in with bass, accordion, keyboard, and harmonica tracks. Referring to the album, Fisher says "it sounds like a moment in time". I think that every time I listen songs like Sula, and Cigarette the album will create a moment in time worth remembering.
You can visit Jeremy Fisher at www.JeremyFisherMusic.com, myspace.com/Jeremyfisher, on You Tube, and of course on itunes.

Review By Kellee Gooch
I got a chance to listen to Wilder Embry's Squander on a quick road trip this week. Right off the bat I was impressed. The first track, Rubber Band, has a contagious melodic hook, and a fun summer feel. By the second verse I couldn't wait to see what else Embry's Second album had in store. By track 4, Dyin' For Ya, I was sold. I even thought for a split second I was listening to Ryan Adams croon.
Embry has created an Alt- Country record with a great sound. He has also gathered up some real talent to back him up. That talent radiates all through the album. From the musicians to the production; nothing has been squandered in Squander. I say check it out.

The Holman Autry Band is from Madison County, Georgia that have been playing together to create the original Holman
Autry Band sound and style.
- that is all a part of the Holman Autry Band sound. If you like Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, and Gov’t. Mule, you are sure to love the Holman Autry Band. HAB has been playing all over the State of Georgia and have been welcomed everywhere, and are making so many new friends and fans alike.
Whether you call it Southern Rock or Country they’ve got what it takes. The debut album on CD, self titled “Holman Autry Band”, was released in April of 2007. Their favorite pastime is performing live on stage. They practice a lot and tend to spend a lot of time together just hanging out.
