Jeremy McComb “Cold”

The third time appears to be the charm for Washington State native Jeremy McComb.  It's "Cold", the 3rd single off McComb's debut My Side of Town that finally appears to be getting radio attention.  "Cold" is a break-up song that portrays the early days after a break-up.  This sounded a little too poppy for country music, but I guess the trend toward a more pop-oriented slant is going to continue into 2009.  A cool fact about Jeremy McComb  that I found is that his last job is that he was Larry The  Cable Guy's road manager (Larry hired McComb at the young ole' age of 23).  I'm not going to make a prediction about how high "Cold" will make it on Country Music charts,  because its good.  I'm just not sure it wouldn't be better on Top 40 radio.

"Cold" Reviews

The song is what I imagine we’d get if Rob Thomas decided to “go country” and took the now well-worn approach of simply adding a few twangy flourishes to his established pop style. - CountryMusicUniverse.Net

what makes the song work is McCombs vocal and the production that doesn't overshadow the lyrics.  Instead of placing lots of cascading strings (which numerous labels would be inclined to do), they let the melody of the lyrics drive the song home. - Roughstock

Jeremy McComb "Cold" Lyrics

Somethin' in the way your moving,

is telling me that your sitll crazy for me

Somethin' bout the way your looking,

is telling me that you're not really over me

Am I holding on not letting go,

the things that never went away

Am I holding on I've got the need to divide you from every living breath

And I'm Cold in the morning, thinking about you

Cold in the evening, when I'm without you

Cold in the morning, and I go crazy livin' life like this

Something 'bout the way you move me

is telling me that your still crazy for me,

Something 'bout the way i'm feeling,

is telling me that i'm not really leavin'

I'm holding on not letting go

the things that never went away

holdin' on, i got the need to provide you with every living breath

And I'm Cold in the mornin', thinking about you

Cold in the evenin', when im without you

I'm cold in the mornin' and I go crazy living life like this

Cold in the mornin', thinking about you

Cold in the evenin', when im without you

Cold in the morning and I go crazy living life like this

You say you don't know, you say you dont know me

since i lost my soul

ohhh take a look inside, you can't deny

whoah take a look inside theres more then just a ghost to find in me

I'm Cold in the morning, thinking about you

Cold in the evening, when im without you

Cold in the morning and I go crazy living life like this
