Megan Mullins “Long Past Gone”
Review by Amy Blizzard
Singer and musician Megan Mullins isn't a stranger to country music with a lengthy resume that includes performances at the Grande Ole Opry, a multi-season gig with the Nashville Star house band and touring alongside Alabama front man Randy Owen. But it is her new position as the flagship artist with Stoney Creek Records and the launch of her first single, "Long Past Gone" with the label that is pushing Mullins to the center spotlight.
'Long Past Gone' is an upbeat mixture of country and rock penned by Mullins and Marla Cannon-Goodman and a declaration of freedom and a woman's ability to lose a relationship without losing herself. With a natural twang and grit reminiscent of Heidi Newfield, Mullins presents crisp vocals about moving on and moving up when the affection you deserve is too little, too late.
Playing out like scenes from a movie, the auburn-haired beauty sings about packing up her things without shedding a tear and driving away without slowing down or looking back. From there, Megan Mullins settles down in a cheap motel and begins planting the seeds

Megan Mullins
to help her start over and live a life of her own without regrets.
The track is produced by Buddy Cannon and possesses a palatable arrangement and lyrics, but at the times the melody is lost in the overzealous delivery. The subject matter follows the well-practiced trend of putting a fun spin on female empowerment that is being activated through recent singles from Jessica Harp, Reba McEntire and Kellie Pickler that will make the Indiana native an easy fit into the mainstream market. Hopefully Mullins' diverse background will come to the forefront in her next single and help her stand out in the popular crowd.
