The Athens Guitar Trio is becoming known as an emerging force in classical guitar around the world, and its no wonder. The Trio- Dusty Woodruff, Rylan Smith, and Matt Anderson- are now in their fourth year as a band. Each member boasts of extensive classical training, and together they form an ensemble with a forward-reaching mindset, which allows them to play the music in an energetic and engaging fashion.
The Athens Guitar Trio is constantly looking to push the boundaries of ensemble classical guitar. The Trio also takes great care in the quality and professionalism in their work. Each member of The Athens Guitar Trio plays a guitar built by Kenny Hill, and they perform with an eleven-string guitar. This addition has extended their range, and delights musicians and non-musicians alike with the unique sound.
The Athens Guitar Trio has played all over the world, and for several dignitaries, including former President Jimmy Carter (also from Georgia), Pulitzer-Prize winner William Bolcom, and Simone Fontanelli, professor of composition at the Mozarteum in Salzburg Germany. Members of the trio have collectively won three Georgia Music Teachers Association Spring Competitions.
With performances, new fans, and their repertoire always growing, the Athens Guitar Trio will continue to delight and entertain audiences all over Georgia, The United States, and the world. They enjoy sharing a love for music by performing as often as possible.
