So we at The Georgia Jukebox don't play a lot of hip-hop. We're big fans of the genre (the good stuff anyway), and maybe we should highlight more local Georgia hip-hop artists. If you are a Hip-Hop artist from Georgia (or wherever) Contact Us Today.
Here's some alt: hip-hop to tid you over
The Flobots are Emcee’s Jonny 5 and Brer Rabbit and are accompanied by violist Mackenzie Roberts, guitarist Andy Guerrero, bassist Jesse Walker, trumpet player Joe Ferrone, and drummer Kenny Ortiz. The band's message and nontraditional instrumentation gave a universal appeal from day one. Sometimes they share the stage with indie rock acts, rock bands, or hip-hop groups, The Flobots have quickly become one of Denver's most influential bands.
The band's first EP, Platypus, was recorded in response to the buzz, and Flobots quickly reached #1 on Twist & Shout's bestseller list. The strength of Platypus and a continuous show schedule has helped the band to open for acts like The Coup, Lyrics Born, Immortal Technique, and 2mex. The Fray also took notice, inviting the band to open the last night of their North American Tour at Red Rocks amphitheatre.
The Flobots regularly sells out Denver venues and is developing sizeable followings in California, Nebraska, Utah, and Wyoming.
