Fuel Injection - "Heavy Load" With Interview
The ThrillHammers - "Almost Gone"
Shufflejunkies - "8 Up With Da Blues"
What was supposed to be a day of great southern rock turned into a day of great Georgia rain. The gig was called before it really got going, though the first three bands on the side-stage did complete their set. I arrived during the beginning of the Shufflejunkies set and really enjoyed what I heard. They put on a good show.
I'm disappointed I didn't get to hear the Thrillhammers or Fuel Injection. I'm disappointed I didn't get more interviews for the podcast I'm wanting to do, or get more photos..... As my buddy said, a little more preparation would have done me some good.
I wish I had been able to meet the Shufflejunkies. I wish I had recorded my conversation with The Thrillhamers' Wayne Bagwell while we were waiting (in vain) for the rain to end. All the guys in the Thrillhammers are great, I'm definately going to have to make it to a show soon.
Everybody we met was really nice. The Enlightenment Prodcutions people were great . I didn't have the
passes ready at the gate, but everybody I talked to wanted to help, and made sure I got the credentials I needed.
I overheard a few people talking about the battle of bands that set up the sidestage portion of the event. Evidently, everyone pretty much figured The Thrillhammers were going to take this fairly easily. They've been together forever and really have their stuff together. Evidently Fuel Injection, a relatively new band from Jasper came in and blew everybody away.
Fuel Injection did win the battle of the bands. They would have gone on last on the side-stage if the rain hadn't ruined the day. I had a chance to talk to the guys (my lone interview), so I wanted to share some of the highlights of that:
These guys are young and raw. But the songwriting is promising, and if they can compete live with the much more experienced bands they did, right now, give them a year or two. Jasper Georgia, if you've been wanting a hometown Rock Star, here's your chance for a whole band of them.
Members of The Thrillhammers, a Canton Georgia Based band grew up within miles of each other in the North Georgia Mountains. They got a steady diet of country music. They grew up in musical families, and music has been a part of them their entire life.
In 1987, they had their first jam. They didn't form Thrillhammer to get famous, they just wanted to play some good music.
