I've started to hear Kellie Pickler's newest song, "Don't You Know You're Beautiful" on "over the air" country radio lately. This former American Idol Contestant from Palestine NC is getting ready to again test her pop-country success.
I like that wholesome image Country music tries to impart, and Kellie Pickler's new song is as good an example as it comes. Simple, and to the point you dont know your beautiful is a song that can girls of any age cope with the pressures of modern society.

Here's to Kellie's Success. We hope to hear more lessons on the country radio from this young star soon!

Kellie Pickler was born at Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle, North Carolina, to Cynthia Morton and Clyde "Bo" Pickler, Jr. Kelly Pickler's mother was 18 years old when she gave birth to her, and relinquished custodial rights to Pickler when she was two years old.
The major influences in Kelly Pickler's life are her grandfather, Clyde Pickler, Sr., who worked as an electrician and grandmother, Faye Pickler. She was raised in Palestine, a small town near Albemarle.[1] After Kelli Pickler's grandmother's death, she continued to reside with her grandfather and her younger sibling Eric until she became a contestant on Idol. Kelley graduated in 2004 from North Stanly High School in New London, North Carolina. She used to be a cheerleader and dancer. At her graduation commencement, she sang "On the Side of Angels" by LeAnn Rimes.
Kellie Pickler has worked as a waitress at a Sonic Drive In franchise, and in 2005, she made an appearance on WSOC-TV's Gimme the Mike! Charlotte contest. She finished in second place. She participated in the Miss America circuit, and won the "Miss Stanly County" pageant at age 17 and subsequently competed for Miss North Carolina 2004. She dropped out and later tried paralegal studies.[2]
The 19-year-old Pickler auditioned for American Idol in the fall of 2005 in Greensboro, North Carolina. She sang both Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" and Martina McBride's "A Broken Wing". The judges sent her to Hollywood. Pickler advanced through the semi-finalist rounds in February. On March 9, she reached the Top 12.
Pickler was among one of judge Simon Cowell's favorites. He once predicted Pickler would be in the final three, and said he preferred her over the previous season's winner, Carrie Underwood.[3] Recognized for her "quirky" personality and Southern charm, Pickler gained attention on the show by saying (for example) that she had hardly ever performed before real audiences, and mispronounced words.[4] She was compared to Jessica Simpson in a March 27 story in US Weekly magazine entitled "Kellie: The Next Jessica Simpson", due to her "sweet Southern style and ditzy demeanor". Pickler has stated several times that she was not heavily exposed to modern pop culture.
The New Trisha Yearwood Single "They Call It Falling For A Reason", is a kinda upbeat interpertation of heartbreak, and it should start to make its way up the Country Music Radio charts, on CMT and all other country music outlets soon.
"They Call It Falling For A Reason" is “A well-written, expertly performed and tastefully produced single that showcases Yearwood’s incomparable vocal talents without getting in the way of the song’s lyrics. “ - Country Music Universe
The follow-up to Trisha Yearwood's exceptional "This Is Me You're Talking To" from quintessential disc "Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love", "They Call it Falling For a Reason" is a vibrant number as fresh and inviting as a warm summer breeze. Penned by Matraca Berg and Jim Collins, the song perfectly captures that giddy, exhilarating rush of emotion that comes with falling in love. Yearwood's gorgeous voice, as always, soars from start to finish as she perfectly nails each line. Celebrated for her ability to beautifully deliver a heartfelt ballad, this song will remind that she's equally effective on faster fare. In fact, the current album features some of the best uptempos numbers any female country artist has cut in recent years. This is an ideal summertime love song that should remind listeners that long before Taylor and Carrie, ladies have more than held their own at the format. —Deborah Evans Price
With the buzz over "They Call It Falling For a Reason" growing, you may need a little Trisha Fix.

Download Alan Jackson - "Good Time" - on itunes
Alan Jackson's latest single, "Good Time" has lit a fire on the charts, and its no wonder. Jackson's Trademark is his simple and earnest songs that make it impossible not to sing-along to.
You can't even begin to talk about Georgia Music without a solid mention of Alan Jackson. The CMT generation seems to have left roots country on the side of a gravel road, but Alan Jackson refuses to let go of the reigns as he once again shows that theres a market for real country music.
I started going through his music and am absolutely amazed at the songs he's done, and he wrote most of them.
Pull up a chair. This might take a minute or two to go through these.

I've been listening to Hightide Blues "Dreamin' Alone" off Love Come Easy for days, and I can't get that tune out of my head. I struggle to put them into a niche because they just play good Rock-N-Roll. Southern Style. "Dreamin' Alone" is one of those songs that gets better everytime you listen to it. But don't let the laid back vibe of "Dreamin' Alone" fool you. These guys ROCK.

"Yesterday afternoon I caught the end of a set from an Atlanta-based
band called Hightide Blues, who play a rollicking, jangly, southern
brand of rock n’ roll. The band came to Bonnaroo after winning first
prize in a radio contest, and they were like kids in a candy shop,
jumping around stage and grinning from ear to ear. This sort of
enthusiasm is refreshing after seeing a bunch of shows from more
established artists, and can be powerful stuff. Best of luck to them." -
Nick Anderman, The Village Voice (New York) 6/15/08

Hightide Blues took the stage for the first time in 2006 and has
been gracing hundreds of stages for thousands of fans ever since.
Their sound is a throw back to southern rock with a modern twist
and an original delivery that's in a category of its own. With their
high-energy performances and huge fan base it's no surprise that
Hightide Blues has shared the stage with national acts such as
Sara Bareilles, Graham Colton, Jason Isbell, Matt Costa,
Donavon Frankenreiter, Sister Hazel, The Whigs, Dead
Confederate, Karl Denson, and many more.
Their delivery of acoustic and electric guitars with a hard-hitting
rhythm section has lead to sold out shows all over the Southeast
and won't be stopping there. Hightide Blues played Bonnaroo
2008 and are expanding their touring with shows throughout the
Midwest and up the East Coast.
In January 2008 Hightide Blues signed with Atlanta-based Bowe
Inc for management. In February 2008 Hightide Blues recorded
their second EP "Love Come Easy" with producer Richard
McLaurin at House of David Studios in Nashville, where music
legends Elvis, Neil Young, B.B. King, Joe Cocker, and Roy
Orbison recorded some of the most influential albums in music
history. The highly anticipated "Love Come Easy" is generating
excitement from fans and major record labels alike. Being labeled
the fastest up and coming band in the Southeast, Hightide Blues
is following in the footsteps of the many music legends who
graced the very same studio, and anything is possible for this
band as they tour the country picking up momentum and fans
along the way.

Okay, I admit it. I wasn't really a huge fan of "Holler Back" from The Lost Trailers, but the more I hear it, the more I like it. I was a fan of "Country Man", but I guess it just had to sink in. I'm putting their new CD titled (appropriately enough) "Holler Back" on the list of "gotta haves" this summer.
This really is the summer of Georgia music, and The Lost Trailers are just another example. Here's more info about the band:
Stokes Nielson and Ryder Lee were writing and producing music as early as high school in Alexandria, Virginia. Their first album together was the self-issued The Story of the New Age Cowboy in 2000. Initially, Ryder and Stokes worked with a bass guitarist and a drummer, forming a group known as Stokes Nielson & The Lost Trailers (later shortened to The Lost Trailers); the name was penned after the band's equipment trailers had been stolen for the third time.
At the time, one of the Lost Trailers, Stokes Nielson, was also working as a disc jockey for a radio station in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2000, after an interview with Willie Nelson, Stokes offered him a demo version of The Lost Trailers' material; Nelson immediately offered the band an opportunity to play at Nelson's annual Fourth of July picnic, which he held in Texas. Stokes assumed the role of songwriter and guitarist, with Ryder serving as keyboardist and vocalist. The Lost Trailers' membership was finalized with Stokes' younger brother, Andrew, as keys player, Jeff Potter as drummer, and Manny Medina as bassist. The band then gained a following throughout the Southeast and Texas, performing more than 200 shows yearly.

Listen to "Son Of The Bourbon"
We've been down with Blackberry Smoke since day one. These guys are Southern Rock. and rock they do. They've toured with ZZTop, and it looks like they're spending their summer on the water (They're on Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man Cruise, and Rock Boat 9.
Its the Summer of Georgia Music, and Blackberry Smoke's getting in the act with Honky Tonk Bootlegs. You can here "Son of The Bourbon" on the station, and on this blog anytime you want. But to really experience the Blackberry Smoke experience, you'll need to scoot on over to to the band's website and pick up HTB.
BBSmoke has a distinctive Southern sound that is unfortunately missing on over-the-air radio, but I don't see how they can hold this band down much longer.

One of our long-time favorites Ishues has released a new video for "Problems", a great song off his CD Civil Unrest.
When this young Athens Georgia hip-hop activist was KRS-One's hype man, the hip-hop icon knew this guy had promise. We couldn't agree more.

Mainstream radio may be skeert to play Ishues music, but The Jukebox has been down since day one, and we're going to continue to highlight his music.

Colt Ford's new video for "No Trash In My Trailer" should start showing up on CMT, Colt's P.R. advisor told us on Wednesday night.
Here's the statement:
(Nashville, TN) –Georgia-native and independent country entertainer COLT FORD is making his debut on CMT with top-name celebrities supporting his fresh style of country music. Beginning on Thursday, June 12th, fans can tune-in to CMT to watch Ford's video for "No Trash In My Trailer." In addition to the celebrity cameo appearances from John Michael Montgomery, Steve Azar, Rhett Akins, Stephen Cochran, Vinny (from Trailer Choir), Brantley Gilbert, and CMT's own Lance Smith—this special CMT exclusive edit will also feature footage from the new network show, Mobile Home Disaster.
The video was produced by Tacklebox Films and shot by notable directors, The Brads, in Springfield, Tennessee in late May. "The treatment was designed to depict how country folks live," says Ford. "I am as country as it gets, so I'm not poking fun of that lifestyle by any means. I think it's a large part of American culture and I hope everyone enjoys our interpretation!"
Artists and critics agree that his approach is unlike anything currently at radio or on TV today. "Colt Ford is a star, plain and simple. 'No Trash' brings together the best of artists like Toby Keith, Kid Rock and Hank Jr. and delivers them in one big, stone-cold country package. In a time when a lot of country music sounds similar, Colt's stuff will absolutely turn your head," says Randy "Mudflap" Wilcox, of WEGX-FM.
Ford's 2008 album Ride Through The Country is available now at www.coltford.com with physical album slated for release in July 2008. No stranger to incorporating friends in his projects, Ford's record features artists John Michael Montgomery, Jamey Johnson, Brantley Gilbert, Bonecrusher, Attitude, Jeremy Popoff (of Lit), and Adrian Young (of No Doubt).
Fellow songwriter and co-writer of "Cold Beer" from Country, Jamey Johnson has helped introduce Ford to several of the other Nashville singer/songwriters that appear on the album and in the video. "Colt Ford is a unique man taking on a big job," says Johnson. "Trying to mix rap and hard core country music is like trying to blend oil and water. He might be the only man in town that knows the recipe."
Ford acknowledges that his success didn't happen overnight, and he credits his fans for the overwhelming response at the shows and for the Top 20 MySpace success. However, at the end of the day Ford still says the music is the fundamental force driving his success. "I've been fortunate to make friends with several people in town since coming up to Nashville to record." As former PGA golfer, Ford says, "I give golf tips to a lot of celebrities, so when they learn I write and then hear the music, the relationships and writing sessions seem to develop naturally. I've been incredibly blessed to work with such talented people and have the opportunity to make music for a living."
For details on Ford and to download a copy of Ride Through The Country, visit www.coltford.com. Be sure to listen for "No Trash In My Trailer" on your local station and on CMT and CMT.com.
